Beauty: Budget Buy: Baby Bottom Butter

By the title of this post many of you are probably thinking eh? I would! A strange story..We always have this product in our bathroom cupboard at home, we use it as a Vaseline sort of thing, for dying eyebrows and eyelashes etc.. Recently with the weather in London constantly changing, it has resulted in my skin becoming extremely dry and I've been feeling self-conscious and frustrated. I've used an array of moisturisers day/night but nothing seems to be a quick solution. The other day I thought; well Vaseline cures dry lips however its far too greasy to cover my face with (unless you want to look as though you buried your face in a frying pan) so I opted to try out the 'Baby Bottom Butter' and voila my skin genuinely feels like a baby's bottom. Even better so, it works unbelievably well as a primer! I have started applying a thin layer of the butter to my face followed by my Nivea Express Hydration Primer creating the smoothest base for applying your make up on to.

Who would have thought for just £1 you could get skin as soft as a baby's bottom as well as a fabulous primer! No I didn't think it was possible either! In addition to this my skin has remarkably cleared up in such a short space of time. My favourite budget buy this week. You can buy this product in all Waitrose Supermarkets. Hope you enjoy it dolls!

Beauty: New Spring Additions To My Make-up Bag

"I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little, if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny."
- COCO CHANEL

I couldn't have said it better myself. This is definitely a saying I live by. I cannot bear the thought of walking down the street in a tracksuit and no make-up. I just can't and never would. Something my grandmother always said to me was "always wear pretty underwear in case you get hit by a car". It is a metaphor...you never know who you might meet or who could see you so always look your best. This refers back to both make-up and fashion which combine beautifully. I am not saying you should smother your face, because you don't need to, even if its just a bit of lipgloss or a layer of mascara or eyeshadow.

Where am I going with this you are probably asking...?

Beauty Secrets: Did you know...?

Buy one get one free, Get 3 for the price of 2, FREE mascara worth £9.50...

These are few of the many incentives offered to the consumer on a day-to-day basis to draw in customers...and my gosh does it work. I love a good bargain and the amount of times I have paid more than I bargained for just to gain my incentive are endless...sometimes I wonder whether it's worth it and sometimes one could argue its not.

Yet one of my favourite incentives is MACs empty bottle recycling scheme. I thought that EVERYBODY knew about this but too often I find that friends of mine have no clue! So I thought I had to share it with you all!

If you return 6 empty tubs/bottles/tins (or whatever you have) or 3 empty lipsticks you can choose a brand new lipstick for free! This is part of the reason why I love MAC so much and I remain a loyal customer...this incentive does work! Enjoy!

Hot to Trot

As the sunshine emerged from the clouds, I couldn't be more excited to whip out my Topshop suede wedges. Lets be honest unless you are 5ft 10 and stick thin, all of us ladies could benefit  from being elongated with a heel. Whether it's just chelsea boots with a mild heel or 6 inch wedges, as long as your not stepping out in what I like to call 'stripper' heels (aka stick thin 6" stilettos) then a heel is perfectly acceptable in the daytime.

Being only 5ft 5 myself I tend to always wear wedged heels in the daytime, mainly my Ox-Blood leather Chelsea boots which are pretty wrecked yet I'm too in love with them to let them go. I wish I had bought more than 1 pair as they are just so comfortable and flatter any outfit; but unfortunately Topshop decided to discontinue the boots in Ox-Blood. Boo Bloody Hoo.

Imagine if there was such a thing as 'Drive-Thru Fashion'... Well there will be as of 2014

What is the first thing that pops into your head hearing the phrase 'Drive-Thru'? Im sure the first one was McDonalds, which i'm sure we are all guilty of visiting. However the idea of a drive-through department store never really crossed my mind. A sheer example of innovation and competition prevails as the Oxford Street, Luxury Department Store, Selfridges raises the bar again by announcing the construction of a Drive-Thru shopping service.

Simon Forester, Selfridges' multi-channel director told the Evening Standard that "There will be a dedicated area providing the level of service you would expect from Selfridges, It will not just be the first drive-thru service, it will be the best." The idea is that customer does their shopping online from the comfort of their own home...or these days, anywhere on your smartphone. Customers will then be able to drive through and collect their items from a reception area without even having to exit their car.

The Floral Way to Drink Green Tea

Being a lover of green tea, especially Jasmine green tea, my discovery of Flora Tea left me amazed. Never before have I seen such a thing, and whilst many may think that it may taste gross, your wrong, it tastes delightful and so pure! I stumbled across the company whilst strolling around the Grand Designs Show at the Excel in London. I came across a small stand with two young boys promoting it, I was handed a shot glass filled with Jasmine Tea and my gosh it was delicious. The aromas of the flower infuse the water so perfectly making a smooth and delicate tea.

At first I believed the flowers had been placed inside the glass for decoration...you know to sell the brand etc.. but when I engaged in conversation with the young gentlemen I discovered that the flower is in fact the source of the tea and that the flower grows once mixed with boiling water.

ABOUT THE TEA
Flora teas are hand-tied individual green tea leaves with selected dried aromatic flowers forming a tea ball, which revels its secret centre when placed in boiling water, blooming into an artistic and captivating flower display with an enriching taste.

You can buy the tea on their online store at www.FLORATEA.com - I would recommend the tea as it is just divine!

Beauty Watch: White eyeliner is back and so are orange lips

Originally created by founder of NARS cosmetics, Francoise Nars; the make-up artist's trend of wearing white eyeliner has returned to the spotlight. As seen on the catwalk in Marc Jacobs' and Moschinos' 2013 spring/summer collections, the models were wearing white eyeliner, not only on the inside of the eyes but also surrounding the eye with a thin line. This look aims to brighten the eyes and so you could say the white accompanies the many overt colours this season.

Orange lips is also a returning trend, and I for one LOVE it more than ever. I had dark hair before and felt as though the orange didn't suit my complexion, however, now that my hair is strawberry blonde I love it. Orange Lipstick is definitely a more extrovert look and some could say daring however, accompanied with natural make-up I believe it has a fresh-faced/porcelain effect which paired with the white eyeliner works perfectly. This is visible backstage at Moschino's 2013 spring collection as worn by models such as Cara Delevigne.

CHANEL MOVIE: Once upon a time...

After much anticipation, Chanel's alluring short-film has finally been released. Bewitching us all with her elegance and grace, the beautiful Keira Knightly plays Gabrielle Chanel in the 13 minute long, black and white film, whilst her aunt, Adrienne Chanel is played by Clotilde Hesme.

Speech during the movie is slightly awkward at times, however this is understandable considering Karl Lagerfeld only gave Keira and Clotilde their lines just before the shot. The film shows Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel opening her first ever boutiqu, selling just maybe over a dozen hats and a few dresses all handmade by Gabrielle herself.

By the second day of opening her boutique in Paris, everything has SOLD OUT and Chanel is already taking orders from not only locals, but also from ladies of society all the way from London. I love that at the end of the short-film, one lady says "I love this new designer Chanel...It's very modern, I wonder what it would be a hundred years from now"- Chanel has grown to be one of, if not THE most elite designer house in the world, 'Coco' Chanel's legacy has followed through with her luxury brand maintaining its exclusivity, class, elegance and nonchalant qualities.

You can watch the film below, enjoy!

FESTIVAL DES MÉTIERS: Hermès in the making

The Saatchi gallery is a prime hotspot for the most exclusive fashion exhibitions; Last year we saw Chanel's 'The Little Black Jacket' arrive right on our doorstep in London back in October - needless to say it was breathtakingly fabulous. This year they have brought us Festival des Métiers which will allow visitors to rendezvous with the much acclaimed craftspeople of Hermès, straight from the workshop in Paris.

Thierry Hermès was a harness and saddle maker from Paris, Thierry founded the brand in 1837 as a house of master harness-making and saddle-making. The brand became known as Hermès and has evolved through 6 generations of artisans. Although Hermès is still best-known for its leather goods, the brand has branched out into men's and women's fashion as well as further accessories such as their bespoke, hand printed silk scarves and fine jewellery.

This one week festival will feature an insight into the history of Hermès and contain live workshops, including how the silk scarves which have become so famous are hand-printed as well as the creation of handbags and fine-jewellry. This is a unique exhibition showing an inside view of how the luxurious pieces we have grown up to love so much, are really created.

Straight from China, the Festival des Métiers will arrive in London on May 21st and will continue till May 27th, after which the exhibition will proceed to Dusseldorf. There will be no charge for entry.

See you there,

The Power of the Clutch

Evening bags are better off being minimal in size, yet still remaining a statement piece. We all know how frustrating it is queuing for the cloakroom at a venue, and of course, the endless queue at the end of the evening is far more ridiculous. The whole 'oh I need my lipgloss, it's in my bag' is a situation proven easy to resolve. Whereas men have pockets...we have CLUTCHES.

A great accompaniment to any evening dress, the clutch is small and able to hold most of a woman's many necessities. We call these necessities but really they're just items of vanity which we cannot live without. Inside my clutch you will find my lipstick and often two lip glosses (depending on which one I feel like wearing), Iphone, mints, money (I usually put this in the zip pocket as my purse is more or less the same size as a clutch), 50ml Jean Paul Gaulthier - Classique eau de toilette, a comb and possibly some contents of my make up bag. Most of these items contribute to my appearance, yes, but it is all I need and therefore the power of the clutch bag succeeds on a night-out far beyond the handbag.

This season is all about the citrus-brights, my love being lime yellow, heavy metallics and bold statement pieces.

My Top 10 Clutches this season are:

1) Jimmy Choo £475, 2) Jimmy Choo £825, 3) Anya Hindmarch £795, 4) Nancy Gonzalez £1,103, 5&6) Chanel £1000+, 7) Anya Hindmarch £795, 8) Nancy Gonzalez £1,103, 9) Chanel £1000+, 10) Anya Hindmarch £350
